From Survivor to Champion: Anna Crollman Honored with ASPS Patient of Courage Award
November 15, 2025
Anna Crollman, a breast cancer survivor and tireless advocate, has been named the recipient of the ASPS Patient of Courage Award. As her surgeon, I have had the privilege of supporting Anna through her reconstructive journey and witnessing firsthand her resilience, courage, and commitment to empowering others.
Diagnosed at age 27, Anna underwent bilateral mastectomies, staged expander-implant reconstruction, and chemotherapy. Beyond her own recovery, she has become a leading voice for young women facing breast cancer. She founded My Cancer Chic, a platform providing resources, advice, and community for thousands of women. She also established the first Young Survival Coalition Face-to-Face support group in Raleigh, NC, serving as YSC state leader and connecting women across the state with vital support.
Anna’s advocacy reaches nationally. She has contributed to the CDC Advisory Committee for Young Women with Breast Cancer, collaborated with La Roche-Posay Cancer Supporters Squad, and worked with CAKESbody to create products supporting the breast cancer community.
Her efforts have been recognized in Forbes, Women’s Health, PopSugar, Healthline’s Best Blogs of 2019, and even a Times Square billboard campaign advocating for patients’ rights.
As her surgeon, I can say Anna exemplifies the courage, strength, and leadership this award celebrates. Her dedication to supporting and educating others continues to inspire me and countless women navigating their own breast cancer journeys.
