Melanie McDeremt, Sr. Genetics Counselor, Winthrop University Hospital joins us Monday, December 7, 2020 at 9:30 am via Zoom.
Registration is required. Topics will include learning the basic genetics of hereditary cancer syndromes (specifically breast, colon and ovarian cancer), modes of inheritance and analysis of pedigree. In addition, participants will assess hereditary cancer risk and understand associated genetic counseling and testing.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Melanie McDermet, MS, a certified genetic counselor, has been a member of the Medical Genetics staff at NYU Winthrop Hospital since August 2014. She has been a genetic counselor for more than 25 years, and has experience in prenatal, pediatric and cancer genetics. She now focuses on education about and testing for hereditary cancer syndromes. Ms. McDermet received her M.S. in genetic counseling from the University of Michigan.
